I mentioned before that I had joined Weight Watchers online - one reason being I could just type in what food I have eaten and it will work out the points for me ! Anyway, on Sunday night, I discovered that their database is all over the place. For example, I used a country harvest soup mix in a recipe. When I typed it in the food finder, it told me that it was 4 points, but then when i put the kj & saturated fat into the calculator, it tells me that its only 3 points?? what gives!
I posed a question about it on the fourm and one kind member wrote back and said this was very commonplace and despite emails to the WW staff, nothing had been done about it!!
I want to know... WHY are we paying a monthly fee to access incorrect information!!
If only I could work out what the formula is to calculate the points i'd be set!!
I have written down all the food I have eaten for yesterday and today - don't know If I could be bothered putting it in cos who knows if its right or wrong!
On another note, I went to the gym last night, completed all but 7 minutes on the x-trainer so very happy! Feel great after going there!
For dinner, made the mushroom sauce from Annette Symm's Simply Too Good To be True book1. Was delish!
Anyhow, child 1 is awake so best be off!
take care, Kyls

Not A Good Weekend!
My weekend didn't start off very well. On Friday morning, I woke up with the cold that Gavin & the kidlets have been hanging onto for a week - I thought I had escaped getting it but apparently not! Mum came over and looked after us for the day which was great - but not so great in the food department. Mum went to the shops to get a few things for me, and came back with chocolate - ordinarily this wouldn't have been a bad thing but for my weightloss it was! I 'thought' I was fairly good about it only having a few pieces but when I sat back at the end of the night I realised i'd had more than I thought!
This cold also put an end to my thoughts of going to the gym on Friday!
Woke up Saturday morning feeling a fair bit better - had my mothers day massage which was absolutely awsome!!! I was talking to the massuse dude and he was asking about how much exercise I did cos there were alot of 'knots' in my calf muscles.. he said that I must do a fair bit of 'fast walking' to get those kind of knots.. umm... yep I do ! Made me feel great that a complete random had noticed I exercised!!
Sunday was a birthday party in Sydney for one of my schoolfriends sons. He was 1 and just sooo adorable!! poor girl has her hands full - for 2 weeks she will have two 1 year olds to deal with!! (but I know she can do it!!). Lots of yummy party food there - including some yummy wraps which had lots of point free food in them - treated myself to 1 mini spring roll and one pasisti and the smallest piece of birthday cake which was delish!! My undoing for the day was the stop off at maccas on the way home cos Ebony needed a bottle - Kimmie shouted me a coke, but I figure that 6 weeks ago it would have been a coke & chocolate sundae so pretty happy with myself in that regard.
I haven't tracked my points since Thursday cos I was feeling to damn miserable to want to sit in front of a computer.... I was mentally adding things up in my head as I went along and *think* I stayed within my allowance but I couldn't guarantee this.
Woke up this morning - Monday weigh-in.. aggh.. scales showed 108.1kg which is a gain of 1.7kg from last week.. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.. buttt.. I know exactly how this has happened -
1. I haven't exercised since WEDNESDAY last week - Thats 5 days!! (mostly owing to being sick.. butt....not even a walk to the shops with the kidlets which is very very unusal!!)
2. I haven't drunk anywhere near enough water the last few days
3. I wasn't actively making sure that I kept within my point allowance..
So here's what i'm going to do about it this week:
1. Go to the gym Monday, Thursday and if I can find a sucker to watch the kidlets Saturday as well
2. On the days I don't go to the gym which will prob be Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday I will take the kidlets in the pram for a walk which will go for at least 1 hour. It will hurt cos by the time I take into account the pram (14kgs), Jacob (15kgs) and Ebony (8kgs) I am pushing 37kgs.. plus I add anything extra in !!
3. I will drink every drop of water that I am supposed to. I have made a chart up for the fridge so I can at least track that
4. Make sure that I correctly portion my food out - none of this "close enough is good enough" mentality..
5. no evil chocolate. As much as I love to eat it, its a proven fact that I can't just have a litty bit and leave it!!
Anyways, im off, washing to hang out - showers to be had, kidlets to be dressed!!
have a good day & take care

And so the journey begins...
I got talking to my friend Kristie about losing some weight and she mentioned that she had joined up to Weight Watchers and also started going to the local gym!
Sometime during the beginning of April I signed myself up to the same gym and so began my "workout sessions". At the beginning, I completed a 'time trial' on the bike, basically, how far can you go in 10mins?? well.. i went 6kms. Not bad for a couch potato hey! My sessions started with, doing 10mins warm up on the treadmill, 3x15lap pull down, 3x15 leg curly thingys, 3x15 chess presses, 3x15 ball squats (big ball against the wall, squat down, stand up..) and 3x15 sit ups on the fitness ball. I remember joking with Dylan (the gym dude) that I was to unco (unco-ordinated) to do these!! This was then finished off by 15 mins on the treadmill and 15 mins on the stationary bike!. I woke up the next morning not being able to move.
On the 20th April 2009, I signed up online with Weight Watchers. Holy crap, I was really starting to do something with my weight!! My starting weight was 111kgs, and I had 24 points worth of food to get through each day!
After some "disagreements" with several sets of scales, I have settled on the basic WW ones - this was a huge deal for me cos I had never owned a set of scales before - I had only ever been weighed at the doctors or hospital!
My first weigh in was a bit of a fizzer because of all the dramas with the scales so I sorta just "passed and stayed at 111kgs.
My second weigh in (4 may)saw a loss of 3.4kgs but I am fairly certain this was due to the previous malfunctioning scales.
My third weigh in (11 may) saw my very first gain of 1kgs - BUT I had been to a wedding 2 days earlier and drunk too much wine and the previous day was Mothers Day.. lets just say I didnt eat any good food that day!I hang on.. yes i did!! there was mudcake AND cheesecake involved!!))
On the 14th May I had my "review" at the gym where I was again weighed - the gym scales were the same as my home scales! YAY! to start with, another 'time trial' was taken on the bike - this time I done 6.5km in 10mins which Dylan was happy with, I personally thought I could have done better!! My program now included 10min warm up on treadmill, 3x15 lap row thingys, 3x15 chess presses, 3x20 weighted ball squats, 3x20 sit ups on the fitness ball, 3x1min "hovers", 3x15 weighted squats and 3 sets of lunges. Just for kicks, there is also 15 mins on the dreaded x-trainer at LEVEL 4 and then 20 mins interval training on the bike... I found new muscles this day!!
Back on track the next week, my 4th weigh in (18 may) showed a loss of 2.2kgs!! whoo hoo!
This is where it all stands as of today! my journey has well and truely started!

The Start!
For as long as I can remember I have been overweight. All through high school, after I finished school and as my working life began.
A few different things come to mind when I started really putting weight on - the first being when I started working at 14 I now had all this money that was freely available to spend on "crap". It wasn't unusual for me to spend $10 at the school canteen every day. I also started working at a take-away shop when I was 15 and the "left-overs" could be eaten at the end of the night.
I turned 18 just after school finished and then started drinking 4 nights a week and not really looking after myself at all!
When I was 22 (2003) I started TAFE part-time at night, as well as working full time during the days. My dinners on these nights was whatever was in the TAFE canteen - usually creamy pastas, hot chips ...
I have tried a "few" times to lose some weight, first with lite n easy, which was great, but eventually the cost got to me - and I really wasn't learning anything about nutrition!
I tried the gym once before, which was great, but then met the love of my life, Gavin.. and yeh well I am sure you all know what happens when you meet a new fella.
Gavin & myself ended up moving in together not long after we met (6 months or so) (2005)and a few months after that we found out I was pregnant with Jacob(2006).
Whilst pregnant with Jacob i went from 99kgs to 111kgs. After he was born(Feb 2007), The 12 kgs I had put on during the pregnancy pretty much dropped off, but now I was at home all day - and I kept eating using the excuse that I was breastfeeding and needed the extra nutrition. CHIPS IS NOT NUTRITION!!
In June 2007, I remember going shopping for bridesmaid dresses for my friend Alecias wedding, (to be held in Nov 2007). We were waiting around and just happened to look on the clearence rack and found THE PERFECT DRESS! I tried it on, and it fitted so it came home with me! (at this stage, Gavin had proposed to me, but we hadn't yet set a date!).
After suffering a miscarriage in Nov 2007, we decided to set a wedding date - 23rd Feb 2008, which was less than 3 months away! I had everything organised and in a lightbulb moment, some 2 weeks before the wedding, decided that I should "propbably" try my dress on.. um.. well.. i remember that it was a HUGE struggle to do the thing up! Off to woolworths with my bestie and bought Ultra-slim or something like that - one of those festie shakes. I drank it every day and hardly ate, felt like crap, but the dress fitted on the day! (whoo hoo!)
Shortly after our wedding, we discovered we were pregnant again with Ebony. At this point, I probably weighed around 106kgs. At the end of my pregancy I weighed 117kgs. To date, this has been my heaviest!
After the birth of Ebony, I had lost 8kgs by my 6 week check up, and until a few weeks ago, this was what I thought I weighed!
There were 2 different photos of me taken during March which really made me stop and think about my weight, one on the 7th March at home with Ebony and Katie(my sisters hubby 2 b's daughter) and the other as part of a group shot at my in-laws property. Both of these photos made me really think that "its time to loose that beef.. "
